A Clinical Study of 42 Cases of Breast Cancer

Abstract
|
|
|
Clinical observations was performed on 42 cases of breast cancer.
29 cases of them were noted and studied on the ward service of South area city hospital from
July 1971 to Nov. 1974 and 13 cases were observed at -neighboring. surgical clinics under the
help of department of pathology, Han Yang university during last 11 months.
1) Forty one out of 42 cases were female. The most frequent age incidence were between 40 to 49 years of age and their mean average age was 48.9 years.
2) Two cases of under 30 years of age were noted and operated at city hospital.
3) The right and left breast were equally affected; 47.6% of the lesions were in the right and
52.4% in the left breast. The upper outer guadrant (43%) was the most common location of the primary lesion.
4) Nineteen patients (45.2%) were treated by radical mastectomy, two cases (4.76%) by simple excision, a patient by local mastectomy c x-ray therapy.
5) There were three cases of denying operation due to their senility, poor economic estate and ignorance.
6) Their low chance of operation were dependent upon too long duration of symptom period and too late arrival to hospital.
7) A case was expired during operation due to her heart arrest originated from hypoxia and hypercarbia.
